5 Everyday Things To Try For Her

Last week, I wrote a post about “5 Everyday Things To Try For Him”.  I didn’t think it would be fair for me to write some suggestions for “her” without coming up with suggestions for “him”.  I know it’s impossible to speak for the whole of woman-kind, so with that in my mind, I have to say that I think woman are definitely a little more complex than men (of course that depends on the woman or the man), but here are a few ideas I came up with.  I tried to keep it general, so here are:

5 Everyday Things To Try For Her

1. Make a romantic dinner

What a wonderful surprise it is sometimes to come home to a candle lit dinner.  It could be something as simple as both of your favorite comfort food like Mac N’ Cheese, or better yet learn how to make her favorite meal.  There are plenty of recipes online that you can try and directions on how to cook on YouTube.

2. Massages

Does your girl go to work everyday and work her butt off in a stress-filled environment?  Does she stand all day?  Does she run around with the kids for hours upon hours?  The best thing to relieve tense muscles is a massage.  When you relax for the evening, or even while you’re doing the dishes at the end of a meal, take a second to rub her shoulders.  Just sitting on the couch?  Why not prop her feet up on your lap and give them a massage while you watch TV.  It doesn’t take very long and the gesture will be greatly appreciated!

3. Going out

Women sometimes love a chance to have a night out on the town.  Instead of staying in, crashing on the couch in your pjs, why not try getting up and going out?  Even if it’s just to the local pub to see a live band or to play a round of pool or two, being active can be really healthy for relationships.  You don’t have to go out to a club and party until 5 am (unless you really want to, of course!) but sometimes just getting out of the house can do wonders for her.

4. Being encouraging

In whatever she does in life, whether it’s trying to lose a few pounds, learning a new language, or applying for a different job, keep in mind that a little extra support and encouragement is always a great help.  You can be encouraging in everyday life, as well.  Has she been feeling lonely lately and guilty that she hasn’t seen her friends often this month?  Encourage her to have a few friends over for a girl’s night and provide the sangria!  You can even encourage her by listening to her explain a project she’s been working on or a room she’s been wanting to redecorate.  Tell her she’s doing a great job!

5. Put “the toilette seat down”

I don’t really mean that literally (unless it’s a real problem), but what I mean by put “the toilette seat down” is try to do or not do the little things that she asks you to fix or change.  If it’s something as simple as hanging up your jacket when you come in, instead of leaving it on the couch…try to improve that one little thing.  It can be one little detail a day, or even a week.  Think about that tiny, little thing that irks her and work on doing your part to help the matter (all within good reason, of course).  Who knows, she may see your effort and put in some herself when it comes to leaving her makeup all over the bathroom counter (just a random example, but I’m sure it happens a lot).

I’m no pro, but…

I think a few of these tips can be really helpful.  These are not tips for things that you must do every day, but rather small things to keep in the back of your mind as you go on about your everyday life.  My boyfriend has tried a few of these and some he’s even done on his own and I had no idea how amazingly better these things could make me feel.  Seriously, walking in on a candle lit dinner was such a shock to me and I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world.   He’s been incredibly encouraging when it comes to anything that I do in live and has even gone through the trouble of going to the store to get food to make a snack platter for my friends that were coming to visit.  Little things like that I know makes him happy to do because he says he loves to see me happy and smiling.  Everyone needs a few more smiles in their life!

I’m really curious to hear about 5 Everyday Things… that you would do for him/her!

Share your list with your 5 suggestions and I’ll post it with a link to your blog.  Thanks for participating!

See you tomorrow morning!

  1. Isn’t it hilarious that something as simple as putting the toilet seat down will make our days?
    My top 5
    1. Be honest-Tell me what you’re really thinking or feeling. I don’t care if it hurts my feelings as long as you’re not being deliberately mean. I would rather know the truth.
    2. Surprise me with some Starbucks or my favorite candy bar or some chocolate milk on your way home from work just because.
    3. Be my best cheerleader-it helps to know you’ve got my back and that you believe in me.
    4. Let me have my quiet time- sometimes I need that time. As chatty as I can be, I still have those random moments where I need “me” time…to read or write or just to reflect. It’s ok not to be locked at the hip.
    5. Throw away the roll once the toilet paper is gone, then replace it!
