Thanksgiving Weekend at Wolfe Springs

Happy Tuesday  Good Morning, Joe Followers!

Back from a nice relaxing weekend away at Wolfe Springs for Thanksgiving Weekend.  Here are a few pictures I took while I was away.  Hope you enjoy them.  I don’t usually take this many pictures on vacation (not to mention I don’t post many of my personal life), so go easy on me!

See you tomorrow morning!

Trip to Wolfe Springs

SATURDAY

We were off to Wolfe Springs at around 1pm.  Not too much traffic at all and the weather was perfect for driving (no rain).  It took us about 3.5 hours to get there (even with the GPS taking us somewhere we didn’t want to go).

Soon after arriving we had a quick Thanksgiving dinner and then headed out to Fort Henry for Fort Fright (Festival of Fear!) for a few laughs and screams.  I don’t have any pictures unfortunately (left my camera at the chalet), but I had a great time!  I’m happy to report I had no nightmares.

SUNDAY

A handful of us went a 7 minute drive down the street to Westport to walk around and enjoy the small town.  I was so happy that Chris came along despite his sore back.  Once everyone decided it was time to head back, we stuck around for a bit and ate a basket of fries on a bench, watching people walk by.  It was very relaxing.

Getting Back

Getting Back (Chris)

We got back and had a lovely dinner with family and when it came time, Chris and I (plus his sister and her husband, his two cousins and his cousin’s husband) went to play some games in the game room.  We stayed there until 1 am playing Shuffle board.  Competition was fierce between Kevin (cousin) and Chris.

After Foley Mountain it was time for us to start heading back home so we packed the car, said our goodbyes, and hit the road.  All in all we had a great time!  Can’t wait to go back.

  1. You are getting your fall colors earlier than we are here in Maryland, but we are much further south. What a gorgeous little town. It’s actually very like the one I live in. Quaint towns are great to visit, but not so much to live in :P

    • Funny that you say that because I was telling Chris how I’d love to live in a small town and he said I’d eventually find it kind of boring to live in. I disagreed with him, but who knows!

      • I feel lucky to live in a place that people visit for vacation. However, all the stores are gifty, we have to drive to the “big city” for a Target or Petsmart. All the restaurants are expensive to cater to tourists. It has its ups and downs.

        • Hmmm! I never thought of it that way. Must take a while to get around then. Are things at the grocery stores overpriced as well?

  3. Really great pictures. Beautiful skies and fall foliage. Glad you had a nice holiday. We live in a small town, and it is boring, but we are only a short drive away from larger cities, so I’ve never really minded.

      • When we first moved here, I couldn’t believe it when we went out for a late dinner, and everything was already closed up for the night. But a half hour drive to a mid-size city, hour and a half to metropolis, makes it so much easier to live here.
